Comparison
GoStreak vs Habitica
Last updated 8 September 2026 · Also: vs Finch, vs Streaks
The short answer
Both GoStreak and Habitica are gamified habit trackers. Habitica turns your habits into a full role-playing game — a character with HP, gold, gear, quests, and parties — and you lose health when you miss. GoStreak keeps the game lighter: each habit grows a companion that evolves through four stages, all your companions share a garden, and you can hold a shared streak with friends. Nothing is taken away for missing a day. Pick Habitica for depth and customization; pick GoStreak for a calmer, more social version of the same motivation.

Who Habitica is for
Habitica fits people who want the deepest gamification available and enjoy the systems for their own sake — managing a character, running group quests, and customizing everything. It works on every platform and is free and open source. The trade-off is complexity and a loss mechanic: for some people the HP damage is motivating, for others it adds stress to something that’s meant to help.
Who GoStreak is for
GoStreak fits people who want that same game-like pull without the pressure or the clutter: an evolving companion instead of an HP bar, one calm garden instead of an inventory, and the option to keep a streak going with friends rather than competing in a party. If “Habitica is too much” is a common complaint you relate to, GoStreak is built for that. The main limits today: it’s iOS-only, and some features (shared habits, extra habit slots) are behind Premium.
Can you use both?
You can, though most people settle on one. A reasonable split is Habitica for a big, structured system you enjoy tending, and GoStreak for a small set of habits you want to keep simple and share with a friend.
